Sassy Since Birth

Hello, Beautiful! I’m Alanda Smith BKA Sassy and welcome to Sass Fifth Avenue, your ultimate fashion, beauty, and lifestyle destination.  It's gonna be fun, informative, a little bit classy, a tiny bit ratchet, as honest as possible but always a safe space.

If I'm being honest I was going to write this formal, politically correct fluff of a bio. But then I thought, Nah, I want to be my most authentic self. So here goes...

I think I've always loved to create and had a vivid imagination. Anything that was artistic or included self-expression I was in to.

After high school, I went to college where I studied fashion design and fashion merchandise and obtained degrees in both. Yeah, your girl is a lil smart.

After college, I moved to Atlanta, GA and oh what a time to be alive. Atlanta was everything  I wanted but didn't know I needed.

I spent most of those years in the entertainment, retail, and customer service industry; which was a winding road as with most 20-something-year-olds around that time. Then I made the brave decision to become a Flight Attendant; which was ironic because I couldn't remember the last time I had taken an airplane ride not to mention my fear of heights, but eh... I thought it'd be dope to do and so I did! 17 years later, it's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Becoming a flight attendant ultimately led to my career as a professional Makeup Artist. At the time makeup was a requirement and a part of our personal appearance standards. Up until that point I had thee most basic makeup knowledge.

Fast forward, I am a Lead Makeup Artist for International Designer and Tailor Justin Haynes of JUS10H, a multi-published professional makeup artist, beauty educator, and mentor. I specialized in beauty, editorial, and fashion runway makeup. My work has been featured during Fashion Week in Los Angeles, New York, at COVERGIRL flagship store, and Paris Fashion Week (at the Eiffel Tower). Additionally, I have worked with the WNBA, Times Square billboards, network television, film, theater, and several publications. My experience includes creative direction for a cosmetic brand launch, artistic direction, and photography for beauty and editorial photo shoots. I know, I know...she's been busy!

I enjoyed serving fashion models, celebrity clientele, and everyday women. I've seen a lot and I've done a lot. And I still have much more I want to do!

I hope by sharing my light flexes, experiences, and inevitable struggles I can inspire you to take risks, try something new, and get out of your way, or at least give the gossip gworls something to talk about as they go along about their day (You're welcome!)... hopefully while showing up as the most beautiful version of yourself.

Thank you for stopping by. I'm so happy you're here!
